Nasdaq bids for London Stock Exchange

JOHNNY COME lately bourse NASDAQ made a bid for the London Stock Exchange estimated to be worth £2.7 billion.

The US bourse already owns 25 per cent of the London Stock Exchange and has pitched in for the whole caboodle, offering £12.43 a share delivered in greenbacks to the tune of $5 billion plus.

The LSE was founded in 1801 but goes back to the late 17th century. Its motto is "my word is my bond" (fnarr). NASDAQ'S motto is "35 years of performance". µ
