ASUS HAS ALL BUT confirmed its plans to ship next-gen Intel technology in its new Eee PC models for 2008, including Wimax integration with Sprint.
In invites for its CES events, Asus talks up its association with 'tomorrow's wireless protocol', in association with Sprint. Since Sprint is spending more than $5 billion on Wimax in the next couple of years, it doesn't take a genius to join the dots (Good job - Ed).
The new Eee is slated to use the Menlow platform from Intel, which sports a Silverthorne 45nm processor and Wimax integration. New power efficiency techniques from Intel are expected to dramatically increase battery life for the PC, as well as for other UMPC makers.
The Eee currently ships with an optional 3G data module - great for those in the UK with ready access, but not fantastic for the US where coverage is patchy at best. Watch out for further CES coverage from Vegas on the INQ for the updates. µ
