Carers wired for virtual assistance

Care in the online community

A SERVICE has gone online to enable carers to get professional assistance quick quickly in virtually.

ConnectingForCare.co.uk will provide a virtual network of online support services to those caring for a sick or disabled relative or friend.

It claims to be the first web site of its kind, and sets itself the lofty, yet noble, goal of trying to "fill a void in today's healthcare system", using online technology to build bridges between healthcare professionals, social workers and carers.

About six million people in the UK are currently in the position of having to provide significant amounts of care to someone dependent on them.

So the site, a cross between a social network, a forum and a message board, will probably help those battling away ‘on their own’, connect to others like themselves dealing with similar afflictions. µ
