Clear the decks, WAN overboard

US CHANNEL title CRN said chip giant Intel is about to put a bullet in the back of the head of its server blade products.

The firm introduced the scheme to generate interest in blade architecture but that's now servered its purpose.

According to CRN, instead Intel will introduce rack mounted enclosures aimed at the multicore market. To that end, Chipzilla is cosying up to system builders and OEMs for a launch at the San Francisco IDF this autumn. µ
