A CASE STARTED in a Texas district court with a firm called Achates Reference Publishing claiming the Vole has breached two of its patents.

The patents in question are 5,982,889 - "Method and apparatus for distributing information products" and 6,173,403, with the same title.

Microsoft, claims Achates, is liable and should pay damages while a jury should decide upon the amounts concerned. µ
