Hammer pix, 333MHz FSBs and mountains of mobos

IN RECOGNITION OF PURE ENDEAVOUR we kick off this wibble with a pointer to the French spods' efforts over at vtr-hardware to round up ten, yup 10, motherboards based on the KT333 chipset. Wibblez over here.

From Toronto, Roland writes to tell us that Rolotech has posted up a look at FIC's new IGP320 motherboard, the AT31. This micro-ATX is based on ATI's first Athlon chipset, will retail at the near $100 level but still come equipped with integrated Ethernet, audio and a graphics core based on the Radeon VE.

This board has been recalled once by FIC so point you mouse here for an update.

Hexus.net have a new review of SOYO's KT333 DRAGON Ultra Platinum Edition. That's over here.

VR-Zone has a article up on how to get the highest 3DMark2001SE score out of your current system and set a world record 17230 3DMarks... They've used an ASUS P4T533-C i850E motherboard and MSI GeForce4 Ti4600 graphics card and increased the voltages for better overclockability. Instead of conventional cooling, LN2 cooling was employed to the CPU and GPU to push their frequencies much higher than default. That tingle your loins? Wibble this way.

The guys at Pentarsys write to say that, at NVIDIA's nForce 2 launch, both Jen-Hsen of NVIDIA and Hector Ruiz of AMD were quoted as saying that there is a distinct possibility that the Socket 462 architecture could go to the 166 MHz FSB. AMD PR has repeatedly denied this, they say, but then they got a direct quote from AMD's Damon Muzny, which basically fesses, "We are looking into it." You can follow the thinking from here.

Viahardware-snaps-a-screen Meanwhile, here's a pic that suggests Nforce2 will sport the "world's first 333MHz frontside bus". We nicked this from vtrhardware, who nicked it from fellow Frenchmen InpactHardware who finally let slip it originally came from viahardware. Sheesh.... Wibbletastic! Here's the rest of ViaHardware's coverage of the NForce2 launch from last week.

And here's the daily dose of ATI Radeon 9000 and 9700 preview stuff from 3DVelocity, here and here, from Neoseeker here and from LostCircuits over here.

Japanese site PC Watch Impress has some Athlon and Opteron Hammer pix. They've also got some slides of forthcoming Samsung memory formats and VIA showing future Socket 478 chipsets. Have a gander over here.

SimHQ has a nice piece to check out what difference switching incarnations of Windows O/S can make to your gaming experience. Have a gander over here.

3DVelocity have had a look at some rounded cables that glow in the dark. We mention this just in case someone's interested. It's here.

Dan's added some coolers to his "enormous" CPU cooler comparison. There's a screaming Delta-topped Goliath 2 from OCZ, here Thermaltake's option-encrusted orange-fanned Volcano 9 here, and Zalman's highly silenceable CNPS5100-Cu here.

And finally, Benjamin writes to say he's added The INQ to his News Interceptor. "In brief," he says, "this new software (still under beta) keeps you informed when your favorite web sites update their news. Check it out, if you dare, over here.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
