OctigaBay machine to use twelve 2.4GHz Opterons

58 GFLOPS theoretical performance
Wed Nov 05 2003, 11:05
THERE'S AN INTERESTING spec of a 12-CPU Opteron 200 machine that we haven't come across before.

The OctigaBay 12K High Performance Computer will, apparently, support six two way SMPs per shelf, use 12 Opteron 200 chips at 2.4GHz per processor, and come with OctigaBay HPC enhanced Linux, version 2.4.21.

What's really interesting is the performance claimed for this machine.

The claim is that it will deliver 58 GFLOPS at theoretical peak performance, and 1440 SpecInt_base 2000 marks per chip, and 1404 SpecFP_base2000 marks per processor.

The machine is apparently expected to ship in the first quarter of next year. ยต
