Fujitsu Siemens quietly announces Mobility Radeon X1900

Madati chip powered by Nvidia's MXM

IT'S BEEN a while since we saw a new Mobility Radeon card from ATI. Alienware quietly introduced the M58 and we pre-announced this chip some eleven months ago here.

An R520-derived core made its way to the mobile market after all. The Alienware machine is here for a while. Ho, Ho, Ho! It's not just any machine - it's a Superman Returns notebook.

Now, ATI, Daamit, introduced a new ATI Mobility Radeon X1900 card powered with 256MB of DDR 3 ram. Actually, Fujitsu Siemens did it for them.

The card sits in an AMILO Xi 1554 system, powered with Core 2 Duo chip, sporting a 17-inch display and up to 2GB of memory. The machine comes with Windows Media Center Edition, is Windows Vista capable or Windows Vista Premium ready. The graphics power should be more than enough.

We don't know too many details about ATI's Mobility Radeon X1900 but we know it comes as a MXM III module. MXM is what the ODMs want and is designed by Nvidia.

The card supports Shader model 3.0, Avivo display marchitecture, HDCP support for HD-ready screens, HD Video playback up to 1080p and PowerPlay 6.0 for extended battery life. No clock and Shader information at this time.

It's cool to know the 17-inch CrystalView LCD display supports 1920 x 1200 and you definitely need a graphic beast to run the games on such a high-resolution laptop.

Here are the Fujitsu details, thanks to a reader called Mike:
