Qualcomm sues Nokia - again

Bedfellows trade blows
Monday, 12 June 2006, 18:53
QUALCOMM COMPLAINED to the U.S. International Trade Commission on Friday, that Finnish wireless manufacturer Nokia had infringed on six of its patents.

Qualcomm has filed several lawsuits against Nokia, even though the pair cross-license a number of technologies.

Qualcomm claims Nokia infinges its patents relating to GSM hardware and has asked the authorities to ban the import and sale of some Nokia handsets in the US.

Last November, Qualcomm filed a similar suit against Nokia claiming it had infringed on 11 of its patents. The company also recently took to litigation in the UK.

Nokia says patents referred to by Qualcomm are covered by licensing agreements, the texts of which lawyers are now lucratively poring over. ยต
