Evil axis likes GSM too

Iranian gov spreads its message by text
Sun Feb 12 2006, 20:01

ONE OF President George Bush's axis of all evil powers, Iran, has apparently discovered the power of text messaging. The Iranian government has taken to exhorting its citizens via SMS/text.

In this case the text - which has been sent out to ordinary citizens - reads, "Enerjy hasteey haghe mosalame hast." Which we are assured by the Sunday Telegraph means "Nuclear energy is the right of all Muslims."

This is, of course, a reference to Iran's claim that its nuclear programme is entirely energy not military driven.

The INQ wonders how Iranians can unsubscribe to such messages. Sending back ‘Stop blurb', perhaps?

Anyway, this is a sneaky way of reaching around three million Iranians with mobile phones. In countries where access to the Internet is difficult, the mobile phone is a very power communications tool. µ
