AMD's ATI buy gets Taiwanese nod

AMD'S proposed acquisition of ATI has jumped over the minor legal hurdle of getting Taiwanese Fair Trade Commission clearance.

However, it still has a long way to go. The deal still needs to be cleared by ATI shareholders, a court and by the Minister of Industry under the Investment Canada Act and other customary closing conditions.

But AMD is confident that the lawyers will have done that by the end of October. µ
