Google Chrome download URL finally available

I've tried it and all I can say is no thanks.

Grrr. I got excited for nothing. It is currently only available for some obscure and inferior operating system called Windows.

I have already downloaded google chrome and my impressions are of a pretty simplistic browser. The javascript engine seems slower than the Firefox one. Though it is supposed to be based on Apple's WebKit and Gecko. 


For my tasted I found there are pretty few ways to customize settings of the browser like for example privacy settings, better bookmark manager like in firefox. Lets wait till google removes the beta status and will see, for now I will still stick to Firefox.

Is that South American edition? 

Anyway, one last comment to Tam. probably when idea that higher resistance creates heat, you thought higher resistance lowers power thru line, therefore less heat, which is true. What happens is it takes so much energy (X) to run transistors. with more resistance it takes more power to plow thru to get correct amount to tranies. here tranies need X amount, no more or less &resistance makes it harder to provide that given amount, therefore more heat,as more power(volt)be applied

I=w/r varible being voltage. More resistance needs more voltage for same w(amp) need.

Oh and btw, got it. Works, is fast, eats memory like crazy (in fairness, if you want every tab as separate process, that's what you get) renders everything I tried, does Acid 2, gets 65/100 in Acid 3. Umm, did I say it's fast like a greased lightning?

What I hate is the bookmarks, options, etc. are on the right side, while back, forward etc. is on the left side. Pain to use on a laptop with a trackpad. Should be grouped.

But, let's give them 2 years and we can get a solid browser.

I downloaded Google Chrome and then tested various websites side by side with FIREFOX 2.0.0.16 (the last version before 3.0)and FIREFOX is much much more faster in accessing web site pages!!!!! Also, the much ballihooed privacy features are a pain to access. FIREFOX addons five much more privacy capacity for all web sites you visis INCLUDING GOOGLE. Google says its not evil but remember its in it for the money...FIREFOX ISN'T.

At least not at this stage. It works and it feels as fast as firefox but chrome right now seems to be lacking the rich customization options the competition has.

I have only been using Chrome for a few hours and I can honestly say that I am impressed. 

I think I will use it as my default browser for a while. If it had an addin with the same features as Firebug for Firefox, then I'd be tempted to use it permanently.


Hmm mozilla better start doing some work. It is slick I will give it that and the interface is fast. The download is small but then the install pulls the actual files, and then installs to some odd place in the users folders "C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" you would think the author would know these things but it slips by these jurnos a bit, I might just have to use it a bit. Hmmm

Google + Apple in one product - the impressionable fanbois must be wetting their panties today.

FireFox 3 is gone, behold the new speed record breaker.
And long live those who stick with IE6 and don't have a clue what a browser is. :P

Can't replace my Firefox yet though--I'm dependant on so many plugins for now. But soon... soon, my dark lord Google.

It can't scroll up pages with my mouse wheel. Don't they test this crap? Bunch of ID10Ts!!!!!!!

Tried it out, looks nice enough. Went to a site which loads a PDF file and after loading the PDF of 1 page, the whole Chrome browser went belly-up (ALL tabs).
mmm, think I'll stick with Firefox.

I tried running the installer under Wine (Windows pseudo-emulation) in Linux. It just ... stops. It's almost as if Google deliberately didn't want Windows Chrome to be tested under Linux.

The interesting questions to me are not if Chrome (beta) is ready for prime time (it is not) or which established browser will suffer more (they all will.) What I find more interesting is that it appears to have all the trappings of a disruptive technology hiding in plain sight.

This newly browser is not that special but I know that in near future they will turn it into a amazing browser you ever seen. because the google team are really creative and they were always winner. 
I don't care the brand, you know, Microsoft, Firefox, Safari... I care when it fulfills my needs much better
