AMD declares peace in Intel price war

It's all over bar the shouting. Possibly
Tuesday, 17 July 2007, 12:39
CHIP FIRM Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has no plans to cut prices in response to Intel cuts coming next week, it said.

AMD marketing director Gary Bixter told CRN US that there would be no more craziness like there was last year. Further, he added that the firm is making attempts to woo the channel, which it alienated towards the end of last year by being unable to supply the right chips in the right quantity.

Despite appearances, Intel plods steadily on with scheduled price moves - generally speaking it signals such events two to three months in advance, to coincide with the introduction of new ranges of processors.

Bixter told CRN that there's no immediate plans to cut prices further - plus it also flags price cuts well in advance to its distie and other customers. ยต
