SP2 for SQL Server 2005 hits the streets

Works with Vista and brings in new features
Tuesday, 20 February 2007, 21:28
SOFT giant Microsoft has released its new service pack for SQL Server 2005. As well as all the usual bug fixes, there is shedloads of new stuff including integration tools for Windows Vista and Office 2007.

SP2'd data bases can also manage better data mining within Excel and Visio 2007 and use SQL Server data within SharePoint. There is also Oracle support in the database's Report Builder feature.

Vole claims that it has also improved database maintenance plans, management reports and a new copy database wizard.

Unlike Vista where virtualisation has been tightened, Vole has expanded virtualisation use rights to allow for unlimited virtual instances on servers that are fully licensed for SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition.

The full download, can be found on Vole's web site at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/sp2.mspx.
