OPERA SOFTWARE says Sony's mylo personal communication device will come flavoured with its Opera browser.

To be launched in the United States in September, the mylo is a hand-held device designed for use in Wi-Fi enabled environments. Scott Hedrick, an Opera veep reckons it's a "unique and versatile new device."

The browser automatically adjusts Web content to fit the mylo's 2.4 inch color LCD screen. A Sony spokesman reckons the combination "ideal" for people who want to stay connected to their online friends and family, "but not be weighed down by a PC or buffeted by charges for IM and texting on cell phones."

Nintendo's Wii also runs a version of Opera. µ
