Taking time out from CoffeeGate and SimGate, the people who are "worried about children" are starting to look at Apple's Pod broadcasts.
Adult podcasts, or porncasts, are adult-only audio that can be found in the iTune's directory. Apparently, since Apple's Podcast Directory hit the World Wide Wibble web, a number of podcast enthusiasts are using this new-found broadcasting outlet to talk frankly about sex.
Talking frankly about sex in the UK's former Puritan colony of the Americas, is not something that seems to be going down well. Stuff entitled "Fetish Flame" and "Open Source Sex" are two of the podcasts located on the iTunes directory are getting the would-be censors miffed.
Now talking about sexual matters is not the same thing as distributing pictures and videos, but it appears that some of the blogs commenting on Pod Porn' can't see the difference. This editorial from Kirk McElhearn, the author of iPod & iTunes Garage says: "As a father, I'm very disturbed that Apple, a company I've trusted to have good judgment, seems not to be concerned about the presence of pornography in their podcasts."
Similar bogs from Apple users on the same theme seem to begin with the phrase "I don't think Apple should be censoring, but " and there are some that are generally surprised that Apple seem to be letting all this through - see here.
According to the Wall Street Journal, here, it seems that Steve Jobs does not know what is going on with his podcasts either. He told ABC News that the site would not allow any pornography or copyright infringement. More in the Sydney Morning Herald, here. µ
