BIG-BOOTED Google is preparing to launch a system for handling online transactions.

It is yet another small step for Google, on its road to world domination. Welcome to our new overlord.

While some wires are reporting that Google's GBuy system is set for release on June 28th. Others have it on June 25th.

The potential of Google as an online shop has rivals quaking in their virtual boots.

The new system will allow merchants to sign up with Google to become a "trusted GBuy merchant".

Forbes reckons that, during the beta phase, Google isn't going to charge anything for its service. Thereafter, estimates put the Google tax at around an initial 1.5% - 2.0%.

SpokesGooglette, Megan, told the INQ that billing and payments had historically been a part of Google's advertising programs and online services.

"As we've previously announced, we offer users the ability to buy items on Google Base and at the Google Store as well as pay for services like Google AdWords, Google Video and Google Earth.

"We have nothing specific to announce at this time," she gurgled. ยต
