Sun cuddles up to Microsoft

Open sauce arrested development
Thu Sep 13 2007, 09:20
WHILE SUN has been pushing its Open Sauce credentials lately, it seems that the outfit has also expanding its links with the movement's arch nemesis Microsoft.

According to ComputerWorld, Sun will begin building servers with its rival Microsoft Windows operating system installed directly inside of them.

Sun will begin incorporating Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 software into its corporate x64 server range. This is a bit of a turnaround from the days where Sun would tell its punters to install Windows themselves and was suing Vole for its anti-trust antics.

The pre-installed servers will hit the shops in 90 days.

It is Vole which will gain the most from the deal as Sun as a fair bit of clout in Server land. ยต
