Chipolatas and other sausages
Fri Dec 07 2007, 09:07

DIGITIMES HAS got its mits on an Intel roadmap and confirmed that the firm will introduce a Celeron E1000 on the 20th of January.

The chipolata will have a clock speed of 1.6GHz, a system bus of 800MHz and half a meg of L2 cache and will cost $53 when you commit to buying a heap of them.

There's more here, with other details of Intel chip announcements the same day. µ

Ayush IDIOT

If you can overclock a 1.6 gig processor to 3 gig then surely you also can make penis out of your fingers.

GROW UP

Sad to see but it was coming

Some how every time you turn around and think to your self "I wish AMD would pull their finger out" they don't, because of a tight cash flow or whatever.

I truly thought that AMD would hold the entry level performance crown for just a little bit longer, like they always seem to have done.

But no the high end performance crown holders (Intel) will now take what little AMD have left.

I mean just imagine what might happen to AMD if Intel bought Nvidia :O

x2 3800 vs E1000 (overclocking)

Ayush:

You forget to include overclocking in your thought process. Most will buy the $53 E1000 and overclock it to 3Ghz or better and then it will crush the x2 3800!!!!

Don't you know Intel can't do wrong

You know I see it happening again, same old story that happened pre-2k when Intel had a better chip then AMD. They started doing their BS Celery crap and because people see intel they will buy intel and won't look at what they are buying first. They will start doing their monopoly again like they did... they finally gotten all the p4 celery crap off the shelf and now they are going to start with core-duo celery.

There are plenty of tests that show that without the massive L2 cache that core-duo's are worst then AMD's offering or par at best.

Ah well, I guess as the good old saying goes "want to see the future, look at the past"

I give it no longer then 2 years and Intel will get pompous again and sit on their laurels again, then AMD will be the good guy and all these young'ins will be a bunch of AMD fanbois...

I just buy the deal nothing more/less. Still price/performance last time I bought was AMD so maybe next time it will be Intel but what ever, I buy this stuff when the companies consider it a write off anyway and it no longer counts as the statistic of the day.

Too bad that these sadistic ... cough cough I mean statistics people would actually count what has been sold off to users instead of the sold off then returned to supplyer and sold off at a discount.... numbers... numbers... it's "all" in the numbers....

Bad Deal

X2 3800+ goes out for the same amount and i don't see this coming close to it's performance levels..

bad bad intel..
