MAXMEDIA is to produce an animated feature length adaptation of the upcoming Xbox 360 game Kameo: Elements of Power.

Sunmin Park will adapt the game for screen and has also been named as its director. Animation fans will remember Park as the co-writer, producer and director of the English version of Sky Blue, the digitally animated and environmentally conscious high definition release.

Kameo: Elements of power is one of the Xbox 360s launch titles, and is set to appeal to RPG and fantasy fans. Players play as an elf named Kameo, who must harness the spirits of ancient warriors to save people from an evil troll king. Production of the animated adaptation will begin in 2006.

Park said of Kameo, "Rare and Microsoft have developed a stunning broad-appeal game, and I am thrilled to take the origins of 'Kameo: Elements of Power' from Xbox 360 to a new level of cinematic experience." While all of this may seem premature, being a 360 launch title in itself may well garner Kameo the popularity necessary to justify a film adaptation.

This is yet another game-to-screen translation announced in the last month. With Castlevania, BloodRayne, Dungeon Siege (in two parts), Hitman, Halo and another Resident Evil to name but a few on the way, Kameo won't be alone in making the jump to Hollywood. ยต
