"Anal ysts" are "Armani clad liggers"

Tell us something we don't know

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A JOURNALIST AND AN ANAL YST? About $100,000 a year, we reckon.

Journos, or hacks as we like to be known, earn up to £40K a year, with the notable exception of a select few who can call in up to, oooh, about £41K. Anal ysts, on the other hand, wear sharp suits, go to meetings, write the occasional report and earn get paid at least ten times as much.

Hacks roll up for work at about ten, dressed in shabby jeans and jumpers, write a couple of stories, then knock off for lunch till three. Possibly turning in another story before retiring to the boozer again. Anal ysts, on the other hand, show up at 0830 in $1,000 suits, sit through a whole day's worth of meetings, then dine at the finest restaurants on expenses.

Apart from the salary, sharp-suitedness and lack of meaningful contributions to personkind, there's little to choose between the two disciplines, other than hacks sometimes uncover news, things of interest, revealing scams and rip offs and naming the guilty.

Anal ysts, on the other hand, are usually the subject of all the above, with the exception that they know nothing about the industries about which they pontificate. They're right up there with telephone sanitizers, marketing consultants and weapons salesmen.

Hanging's too good for them. µ
