EA tries to commit grand theft corporate
SPORTS GAMING SOFTWARE giant Electronic Arts (EA) has made unwelcome passes at the shareholders of Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two. Following an unsolicited and unsuccessful takeover bid of the whole company, EA has made it clear that it now intends to buy up any outstanding shares for 26 bucks a pop.
Take-Two has described the offer, which values the company at around two billion dollars, as too low and ill timed. It also mentioned in passing that someone else had... err... offered them loads more money and that they were still thinking about it.
The GTA series, which has shifted in excess of 65 million games (and brought the delights of cracking a hooker in the kisser with a baseball bat to the children of the world) has become one of the most recognisable, and lucrative, franchises in gaming history. µ

With Red Alert 3 finally announced and with C&C3 KW almost here (after being in production only 1 year) times have changed. For me, EA let me down with BF2 and numerous imbas and bugs. EA use Gamespy servers and these are poorly kept and lag alot. Every franchise they have consumed, they have destroyed in my eyes and lack creativity. Sure Crysis looks nice but other than graphics which 75% of casual gamers can't run it, it's another shooter. If EA get GTA franchise, we can kiss goodbye to real games.

Need for Speed? lmao, what? are they on there like 20th version of that game? Who other than 13 year old girls honestly plays the Sims? All there games are mediocre made for 12 year olds who every year pay 60 bucks for the next version of there favorite sports games and the game has nothing new but updated rosters. screw EA, Same old crap every year.
but they have terrible quality control. NFS games are very buggy. Bad clipping, you can drive through the floors of overpasses into zones you aren't supposed to go to. Crashes. And so on. Just because a game has a strong following doesn't mean the quality control is good.

Their cricket series is absolutely pathetic. They can't even get the scorecard right.

I can think of loads of medicore games recently.....

Army of Two - Hype Hype & it's not as good as everyone thought, Online sucks as per always with serious lag issues.

NFS Carbon - Dodgy game in my eyes 360 version online is bugged to hell and again serious lag issues.

NFS Pro Street: Looked at it still the same as Carbon graphics are on par, gameplay is the same but in daylight and major track racing. graphics are poor even for HD.

Face the facts EA want a stake in everything they can like buying shares off board members who are willing to sell. EA own so much % in Ubisoft and the CEO has serious gone against monopolisation.

I hope the so called "other company" buys them out and will just leave TT to do what they do best with games plike BioShock and GTA.

Not to ramble on with a he said/she said arguement, but ahhh... the first poster is right, and the fact that they only have one interest and one intrest only, should say all that needs to be said about EA. They are not interested in good games, they are interested in profit.
EA must be getting desperate... the GTA4 launch is nearly a month away now, which means that in nearly a month, Take 2 will be flying high and have no time of day for piddly takeover bids like this one. TT would be fools to get bought out right now, and they know it. Me, I'm planning on buying a PS3 just to play the new GTA. It's gonna be so sweeeeet!

EA now == Mediocre titles poorly implemented. I can't think of a single inhouse developed EA game I have bought for years. In fact, I actively avoid them. 

Just seeing the EA logo is enough to know the game will be mediocre, attempting to cater for the widest marketing groups but actually satisfying none very well. Best left on the shelf.

If they get hold of the GTA franchise, it will be destroyed after the first iteration when all the creative folk leave the oppressive monster for pastures new.
This has been in the gaming news for ages TT believe it was ill timed due to the upcoming release of GTA4. TT believe they only want to get there hands on that franhcise nothing else.

Also many people believe it as well and then EA will end up firing everybody from TT once they've got it. However TT have taken up a package that if staff do get fired within the 1st they will be compensated.

Also TT have announed BioShock 2 but will put there shares higher as for the other company interested many believe it's either Microsoft or Sony.
