Philips to get back into notebooks

I mean..
Thursday, 23 September 2004, 09:16
SOURCES TELL us that Dutch lightbulb firm Philips is considering a foray into notebook PCs.

The last time we saw a Philips notebook was 12 years ago. They were pretty nice.

But surely it's a nutty thing to do. Except, that is, if the notebooks are sourced from long time paramour Lucky Goldstar, now known as LG.

Sticking a Philips label on a notebook isn't what it used to be however, and the market is horrendously competitive.

IN OTHER Philips news, the firm said the head of its semi division, Scott McGregor, has resigned.
