Two new Vaios from Sony

In both flavours, laptop and desktop
Tuesday, 30 September 2008, 14:11

TWO OF THE latest offerings from Sony have been announced today – the VAIO NS1 laptop and the VAIO JS1 desktop PC.

Our story begins with the VAIO NS1 laptop - this little notebook comes with an X-black 15.4 inch LCD widescreen display, a built-in Motion Eye webcam, Blu-ray drive and ‘Draft-N’ wireless networking.

This laptop also comes with a VAIO Music Box which helps the user to catagorise and organise music into different genres and moods – the laptop then automatically creates a playlist which suits chosen occasions.

The user is also able to organise pictures into a slideshow, which can also include the moody playlist creating an exciting display of emotion and memories.

Alongside the wonders of creating your own music and picture bonanza you can gain good connectivity with this laptop with its four USB ports.

We move on now to chapter two, the Sony VAIO JS1 Series all-in-one PC which although a PC takes up less space than the average notebook.

The JS1 comes with a 20.1 inch screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution, the same built-in webcam as the NS1, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of memory and a 500GB hard disk.

Along with all that the JS1 also features Dolby Home Theatre technology and a Sony Sound Reality signal processor chip built into the system which can handle Super Audio CD (SA-CD), allowing the JS1 to record, edit and play music at SA-CD quality, and upgrade older recordings to the new standard.

The JS1 also comes with the Movie Story and Music box features as well as the added extra of (we have to assume cut-down versions of) Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere for photo and video editing.

So, we end it here, unfortunately. Sony was not forthcoming with details about when these offerings will be on sale, or indeed how much they will be – we’ll let you know as soon as they do. µ
