Infineon goes logical while Qimonda waves goodbye

Fabs take different routes

QIMONDA HAS cancelled its wafer supply agreement for memory products with Infineon, which will terminate on the 1st of March next year.

What does that mean for Infineon? It said it will now only use its Dresden plant to make logic ICs.

And what does that mean for Qimonda? It means it will reduce capacities on 200mm wafers worldwide, and by the end of its current financial year will produce 90 per cent of its chips on 300mm.

So it goes. µ
