Nearly 90% of Chinese computers have worms

While many machines are zombified
Wednesday, 15 September 2004, 10:31
THE PEOPLE'S DAILY claimed a staggering 87.9 per cent of Chinese PCs suffer from virus attacks, quoting Ministry of Public Security figures.

Those computers hit include machines in government departments, commerce, education, finance and elsewhere, it appears.

The worms on machines include Sasser, Nimda and a number of lesser known viruses.

Of the government departments surveyed, 58% "have had accidents in cyber security" while other machines appear to be vast zombie boxes.

Of course, this implies that many machines in China are running Microsoft Windows, as this OS is by far the most affected by worm and viral attacks. ยต
