Speaking from his tinfoil suit, Nick Pope said that "The consequences of getting this one wrong could be huge. Frankly we're wide open."
According to The Mirror, Pope said that there have been a number of "highly credible" sightings and landings of bizarre metal aircraft across the UK. Pope ran the MoD's UFOproject from 1991 to 1994, and perhaps wants his old job back.
Nick reckons that the UK's apathetic approach towards UFOs is a little worrying. For example, he said that if you were to report a UFO sighting right now, you'd be sent a standard cookiecutter letter telling you that everything is just spiffy.
He thinks this is particularly worrying considering a highly credible report, likely found on geocities, of a large triangle seen over Shropshire in 1993.
"There's no evidence of UFO hostile intent," says Nick. "But it cannot be ruled out in future.
"If you believe these things are extra-terrestrial craft then you cannot rule out that what is happening is some kind of covert reconnaissance," he said. µ
