Digital-only mag goes belly up

"DIGITAL-ONLY" MAGAZINE Jellyfish has proved a flop and has been scrapped.

The National Magazine Company (Natmags) dumped the project after its online trial ended this week. According to Natmags' chief executive, Duncan Edwards, the firm, "could not see a sustainable business model emerging."

"We have learnt a great deal about digital and e-mail marketing which will prove to be useful for our core business and specialist digital company Hearst Digital Network," he added. Presumably meaning how not to do it.

Jellyfish is a celeb mag apparently aimed at teenagers. We can only assume cover lines about Britney in a pool - "Her nipples were the shape of dimes" - didn't do if for the intended readership.
