WAP site offers unlimited free ringtones

Pitch tries out mobile advertising
Sunday, 23 July 2006, 14:38
GUINEA PIGS can gain access to thousands of free games, ringtones and graphics just by agreeing to receive three text (SMS) messages a week. This impressive service is being offered by mobile advertising specialist, Pitch, in order to test the waters.

Consumers text the word 'Pitch' to 87000 and join up via Pitch's WAP site. In order to receive free content, Wapsters merely need to answer nine questions which helps Pitch build up a profile about them.

The questions include age, gender and interests - music, film, games, fashion, clubbing, and sport. Participants can then access unlimited free mobile content for life.

The INQ tried the site out and immediately obtained Gnarls Barkley's Crazy as a Truetone ringtone. So Pitch is definitely touting quality content not rubbish.

Lourens de Beer, CEO with Pitch commented, “Pitch, for the first time, removes the barriers which have prevented the growth of mobile marketing. Brands are able to target campaigns at customers who have clearly agreed to receive advertising, knowing they are likely to be interested in the offer.

Pitch can therefore deliver targeted, large scale campaigns with a low cost per-response and high return on marketing investment.”

This will work on all UK networks except 3. Texting the word Pitch probably does not work on non-UK mobiles. So you can try going to http://uk.pitch.tv/register.php#main.

So what's the next step? Free beer, beer? ยต
