Tukwila is up and running

IDF Spring 2008 16 cores, 2 OSes

WHAT DOES TUKWILA look like when it is actually running? Well, like any other 16-core box running Redhat really, but see for yourself.

The box itself is a pretty standard Intel development platform, nothing really exciting there. A word of advice though, if you find yourself on a stage with one, don't press the big red button.

Big, red, candy like button

Other than that, it worked pretty well. While I was staring at it, the machine just did what it should have done, run a CFD simulation on Solaris under Redhat using Quicktransit from Transitive. I know you are all looking for benchmarks, but Intel would not even talk clocks at this point.

In any case, the machine works, ran well, and didn't 'keynote' all day from what I am told. So far, so good. µ

Do you think the move was justified?
