Bonking Brit protests his innocence

Different societies to blame
Friday, 17 October 2008, 11:37

VINCE ACORS, the Bonking Brit and boss of SMS firm Moticon, has been found guilty of having sexual intercourse outside marriage and offending public decency in a Dubai court. He says he's innocent.

Both Acors and his co-accused, Michelle Palmer, have been sentenced to three months jail as well as being fined 1,000 dirhams (about £160) for drunkenness.

The pair have got around 15 days to appeal against the sentence. However, Acors' lawyer, Andrew Crossley, says that Vince "vigorously maintains his innocence and is devastated by the guilty verdict against him and the severe and unnecessary sentence handed down."

His lawyer describes the incident as "an entirely innocuous encounter between two adults," and says the verdict is the result of an "acute schism between two separate cultures."

It seems that Palmer and Acors met at a £60 all-you-can-drink champagne brunch held at Dubai's five-star Le Meridien hotel before being arrested for cavorting in public on Jumeirah Beach.

Acors was definitely on business in Dubai but no details have ever been revealed. A Facebook group full of industry luminaries – 'Release Vince Acors from a Dubai Jail' - seems to have mysteriously disappeared, too.

Palmer is blaming the UK Press for the harsh treatment they have received at the hands of the Dubai authorities. µ

Huh?

Its been reported by the BBC that the couple were forewarned before there arrest about "rude" behavior in public, and they continued anyway.

Toss the book at them, and the (gavel?) too.....

I expect visitors to my country to abide by the laws here, as do most English people, yet when traveling to other countries why is it the English think they can do as they please? "acute schism between two separate cultures." My ass, He went there, its his job to behave appropriately as local laws dictate.

Recently a Radio 1 DJ was arrested and spend 3 months in a Dubai jail for carrying a tiny amount of cannabis resin (not even enough to smoke) his high profile didn't help him much, he still spent 3 months jailed before getting a pardon from the Royal family.
His response? "It was unfair, but I broke the law"

VINCE ACORS needs to man up, admit hes a fool, and maybe like minded English people might act a bit more responsible in the future,
yeah I doubt it to.....

Travel Agents should warn non-married couples they face 6 years in prison if they have sex on holiday in Dubai.

Alcohol and unmarried sex are 2 of the main reasons young people go on holiday!

Holidays to the UAE should come with a warning, that if you're unmarried and the cleaning lady sees a condom in the bin then both of you could be facing 6 years in prison for non-married sex.

Lets see how this holiday destination fares if the officials enforce the ban on alcohol and unmarried sex.

What makes this prison sentence seem ok is that these people were drunk and doing it on a public beach. The pair of them do deserve some punishment, but 3 months in prison seems a bit harsh in my western eyes.

Is Alcohol banned there?

Multiculturalism Blowback?

If the UK press is to be believed then all sorts of weirdness is tolerated in quest for a truly multicultural society -- apparently emphasizing "Britishness" is racist or something. Apparently the rest of the world isn't quite as tolerant. This guy offended local custom and law and continued to do this despite being warned once by a friendly cop (more than he would have got in most places). Oh well.

another reason not to go to Dubai

This is another reason to add to the many as why you shouldn't waste your time and money going to middle eastern places like Dubai.

After the British government the middle eastern lot have already "robbed" you at the petrol pump, why give them more money by going on a trip there.

For one thing at the very least the jet fuel to get you there and back should be free...

I bet you could have more fun sat at home slamming your cock in the door.
