Fri Mar 07 2008, 11:15

FREE SOFTWARE to stop web-bourne malware intent on stealing your private information can be downloaded from this link.

Haute Secure has been set up by a group of former Microsoft security staff. But if that doesn’t put you off it is offering free code to consumers with paid for additional services and hopes to make its money selling the service to businesses.

The software works with the browser and alerts the user if a web page acts suspiciously, the software blocks it and automatically triggers an alert to Pcs using the Haute program. For a fee it will also scan sites for hijacks.

The scaremongering firm claims: “The most popular content on the internet today is also the most dangerous. Flash videos, widgets, blogs, rss feeds, and even ads are loaded with dangerous malware that is too sophisticated to be detected by anti-virus and anti-spyware software."

The firm has VC backing including money from an early Google investor. µ

I didn't see any reference to Opera on there. As ex-MS people are involved, does it call home regularly like the rest of the MS stuff?
