A SEARCH PARTY was sent out into a mountainous district of Taiwan to ferret out a mysterious goat-killing beast.

The 23-man posse was mounted after a goat-farmer in the Linkou district of the island reported eight deaths amongst his 100-strong herd.

He said they looked to have eeen mauled to death by "some kind of feline", the Taiwan News reports.

A woman who witnessed the attack said the beast "looked like a tiger".

The beast-hunters are armed with blowpipes, tranquilizer guns and a big cage. They say they hope to catch the killer alive.

INQ readers in Taiwan said they nick-named the goat-killer Sony. µ
