Newegg breaks FX74 package in two

Each CPU costs $550
Thursday, 18 January 2007, 12:03
NEWEGG split a pair of FX74 chips and is selling them as two separate products. You were supposed to buy the coupling chip in $1000 pairs but it's not happening.

Someone at newegg decided that you can sell them for more separately. It priced each CPU at $550. The company doesn't even think about bundling two CPUs together.

The eggy company also sells a related motherboard for a saucy $420, again significantly more than it was supposed to be priced at.

The cheapest FX70 CPU sells for $350 only and this 2.6GHz CPU can reach over 3GHz. Yes, ASUS L1N64-SLI WS Dual Socket L (Socket 1207FX) supports overclocking and it works.

So it is available now but not at the price we all hoped for. AMD fanboys will love to get their hands on this chippery and so the links are below. We failed to find these boards or CPUs at Tigerdirect or any other USA-based big store.
