Danes go to war with MP3 pillows

Shut iPods
Mon Oct 17 2005, 07:05
THE DANISH army, once feared throughout Europe for its rape, pillage, and large axes, is apparently being kitted out with musical pillows to help them relax.

The pillows have been issued to troops in Iraq and Kosovo to help them deal with combat stress and tension.

The pillow has built-in speakers attached to an mp3-player that pipes soft instrumentals and sounds of nature like trickling water and chirping birds.

Dubbed "MusiCure" it is probably called shut-ipods by the troops. The music was was created for use in therapy by composer and oboist Niels Eje.

It is hoped that the pillow can bring relaxing moments in a stressful environment for soldiers who are at the end of their tether.

Mind you if you play running water into anyone's ears all night we expect they will be going to the loo a lot.
