Germans fund Wikipedia

It needs to be more precise
Wednesday, 27 June 2007, 08:36
THE GERMAN EDITION of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia will get state funding as the government tries to work out a way to make it a bit more accurate.

The big idea is that information will be written on subjects which have a poor coverage in Wikipedia. Over the next few years, several hundred articles will be written or improved under the direction of the private-sector Nova Institute.

According to Heise Online, the entries will be written by experts who actually know their fields and do not hold perpetual grudges against the Everywhere Girl or have an obsession with fake penises.

The experts will be trained how to write entries for Wikipedia. While Wikepedia will get no money for expensive operation of Wikipedia's servers, the organisation will get cash for the further development of Wikipedia content.
