LG Time Machine tellies get certified

Stop, pause, save, rewind live TV
Friday, 10 August 2007, 14:03
LG ANNOUNCED itself to be the first company to be awarded Freeview Playback certification for its upcoming Time Machine TV range.

The deluxe, gloss-black HD-ready LT75 LCD series will be available in 32, 37 and 42-inches and the PT85 plasma range in 42 and 50. The TVs, branded Time Machines, will allow consumers to pause, record and rewind live TV from over 40 free channels directly from its in-built electronic programme guide. Recording one channel can also be done whilst watching an alternative channel.

With a 160GB hard drive that can hold up to 80 hours of programmes, the new range will be available from October 2007.

The features under the Group 2 certification include - ‘schedule tracking' and ‘auto-buffering'. All this is to ensure that any changes in the schedule caused by breaking news or overrunning sporting events do not cause recordings to be missed. Additionally, consumers will be able to use a ‘series recording' function to, just as you would think, record an entire series at a push of a button.

LG developed the tellies from the introduction of integrated Freeview Playback digital TV recorders to its iDTVs. µ
