Matrox TripleHead2Go goes digital

GDC 007 Three slices of DVI goodness
Thursday, 8 March 2007, 08:48
MATROX WAS SHOWING off the digital version of the TripleHead2Go product called strangely enough the TripleHead2Go Digital Edition. This one is different from the original TH2G because it adds a DVI in beside the VGA in, and has three DVI outs instead of three VGAs.

The box takes a single signal and splits it up into three images across three monitors. It will support 3x 1280*1024 monitors as a single image and will take a dual link DVI or VGA signal and split it up seamlessly just like it's analog predecessor.

One interesting feature it has is bezel removal. Basically, it will cut a little off the edges where the monitors meet to make it look like there is no gap between the monitors. It is not fully working. In the the screen shot above, you can see a space where there should be none, and the edges are not flush with the picture on the outside of the monitors. This is a minor software issue that will be ironed out.

The boxes are going to be available at the end of Q2 for a list price of $329. If you look at the cost of a decent 19-inch monitor, the TripleHead2Go is a very attractive idea. ยต
