VOLE-FREE browser, Firefox has nicked a few more punters from Microsoft and infected them with Open Source software.

Mozzarella's alternative browser now accounts for 8.69 of the worldwide browser market, counters of virtual beans at OneStat.com said.

Firefox's market share was up a quarter of a percentage point since February.

Microsoft's was down 0.65 percent to a measly 86.63 percent of the total market.

A co-founder of OneStat.com, Niels Brinkman said he thought users of Internet Explorer for Apple Macs were also abandoning it by switching to Safari, which is up to 1.26 per cent, according to the company's figures.

Netscape hovers at 1.08 percent, Opera on 1.03, the researcher reckons. µ
