SCO sites were downed by DoS attack, claim

Updated 24 by seven or maybe five by 24

UPDATE Linux Today says that the SCO network was hit by a denial of service attack, said Eric S. Raymond, president of the Open Source Initiative. The attack, he says, was "organised by an experienced Internet engineer" who has agreed to stop the attack after earlier requests. That story is here.

AS WE REPORTED, the www.sco.com and the www.caldera.com websites went down late Friday night UK time and are still very much down this morning.

There's still no explanation for the downage of both these sites, but www.caldera.de and www.sco.de, the German sites, are also unavailable.

The UK SCO site is also unavailable.

A page on Netcraft shows that it's a still a bit of a mystery as to why the 24 by seven organisation hasn't been 24 for two days.

The page, called "sco-site-down-for-well-over-24-hours", can be found here. µ
