Intel 22nm plans use 450mm wafers

Wafer-thin mint
Monday, 3 March 2008, 12:01

NO SOONER DOES one land in Europe than one runs into stoned Intel process people stumbling out of Amsterdam cafes.

They all say the same thing: "Stop waving your arms about like that."

Quickly followed by: "We are going to 450mm wafer at the 22nm node you know. "

Damn drugs. ยต

out or in?

Well Charlie, what is the truth, did they stumble out or did you stumble in?
By the way, our high quality recreational soft drugs are not sold in bars but in coffeeshops. That name is just as generic, but now my fellow readers can find it and enjoy this nice country in the appropriate colours even when it rains.
Reminds me, got to get me some :)
Regards, Anne

CHARLIE DON'T LET EM OVERSTIMULATE YOUR HARDWARE

Its Good , by my Guesstimate, thats 3.3X more die per wafer, yet 22 nm is half decade off.

Now that Charles has learned Cold, Cruel Truth, WELCOME BACK from Vacation.

Dimned Drugs

Who's to say that they didn't intend "wafer" as the virb?

The end is near

32nm summer of 2009, 22nm summer of 2011, 16nm summer of 2013, and that's about the limit of transistor size. At that size the electrons start to walk right through the transistor's gate. To get any smaller we would have to find a replacement for using transistors, maybe something like MRAM.
