Windows Vista Beta 2 postponed

Comes at some point in future
Fri Mar 03 2006, 09:36
WE learned that Microsoft postponed its Windows Vista beta 2. We are talking about the real beta two that will have support for Nvidia's and ATI's graphic cards. Right now, most of Nvidia's and ATI's cards won't work with this operating system as you simply don't have any drivers for it. The fastest ATI that works on the OS is X850 and that is what everyone demonstrated back at CES in January 2006. That is old and we want support for the latest cards.

Beta 2 was expected in February, at least this is what we heard from sources close to Microsoft and from some beta members of the Windows community but it didn't happen. We think that Beta 2 should be close to release but there have been some rumours that Microsoft plans to skip the Beta 2 and go for either Beta 3 or Release candidate 1 instead.

We tried Nvidia hardware on Vista beta 1 but we could not raise resolution but Aero Glass worked just fine. ATI also told us that we'd have to wait for Beta 2 to get the driver that will work with latest X1800 and X1900 generation of cards. Beta 2 sounds like a huge step toward the final one.

We tried Beta 1 and it looks really nice but we are sure that Beta 2 has to be much better. We hope to see it in March. ยต
