You can buy the rights to Mortal Kombat

Bankrupt Acclaim Entertainment auctioned off
Tue Dec 06 2005, 23:32
IF YOU ever wanted to start a game publishing company, now might be the time.

David R. Maltz & Co., Inc. are auctioning off Acclaim Entertainment, one title at a time. You can be the proud new owner of the publishing rights to Mortal Kombat, Simpsons, Spiderman, and of course Mary Kate & Ashley Magical Mystery Mall.

You'll have to move quick to see the files associated with the 200-some games up for auction. Inspections take place today, December 6th, and tomorrow, December 7th, in Oceanside, NY.

The date and location of the auction have yet to be announced, but they are accepting offers, and they assured me that it should be a good week before the auction takes place. Check here for updates.

The minimum bid looks to be $5,000 dollars, although "the gentleman handling that auction" was out of the office for the inspections, so I couldn't get a confirmation on that one. Bids must be raised by a minimum of 20% each time, so expect to pay at least $6,000 for games that already have bids.

Going once... going twice... sold to the reader on the other end of the internet. µ
