ADOBE HAS ANNOUNCED the official release of Photoshop Lightroom 2. The company website described the product as the photographer's " essential toolbox for managing, adjusting and presenting large volumes of digital photographs".
The new software reportedly features dual-monitor support, streamlined search capabilities and advanced localized image correction. Lightroom also offers 64-bit support for Vista and Macintel computers running OS X 10.5.
Scott Kelby, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), noted that Adobe had created a "complete solution" to meet the needs of photographers.
Tom Hogarty, senior product manager for Lightroom and Camera Raw at Adobe, explained that professional photographers had "provided valuable insight and feedback" as part of the Lightroom 2 public beta program. According to Hogarty, this allowed Adobe to develop features that helps users "refine, enhance and present brilliant photographs".
Indeed, Lightroom 2 provides users with an advanced graduated filter, automatic sharpening and a local adjustment brush that facilitates the precise fine-tuning of specific image sectors.
The new version is currently available online at the Adbobe store for £205.62 for the boxed version or, and you can believe your eyes... £211.75 for the digital download. Work that one out!
Upgrades can be had for £81.08 and £83.49, with the cheaper one being the full boxed version.

Dear Adobe,

When you do stupid things like charging more for the digital download you are in fact encouraging piracy.

That is all.
