Microsoft lawyer announces Windows Principles

There's three, but this is Version 1.0
Thursday, 20 July 2006, 10:56
THE HEAD PLEADER at Microsoft told hacks at the Washington DC National Press Club that it will adhere to 12 principles for future versions of Windows.

Brad Smith, for it was he, said the Vole will continue to abide by these 12 golden rules even after big chunks of the US antitrust ruling go away in November next year.

Said Smith: "Our goal is to be principled and transparent as we develop new versions of Windows."

Hardened cynics know Microsoft is transparent but the principled tag probably comes as something of a shocker.

The 12 Golden Rules
1 Choice for computer manufacturers and customers
2 Opportunity for developers to build products that compete with Microsoft Windows products
3 Interoperability for users

Er, that's it.

Smith said the 12 tenets have the three general categories above.

Microsoft will review its "Windows Principles" at least once every three years. It might have figured out what the other nine are by then. ยต

* MS DIDN'T list the 12 in its press release, but just the three above. But it has a page devoted to them, here.
