Is this a good thing?

BY 2007 more women than men will waste their time on the internet, a report has concluded.

According to the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA), men spent 11 hours a week online in 2005, compared to women online for nine hours a week.

"The Internet is now Europe's fastest growing media amongst women," according to the EIAA Digital Women 2006 report. "While womens' use of the Internet has grown 63 per cent since 2003, the amount they watch television has grown only 12 per cent and the amount they read magazines has actually fallen by 4.5 per cent in the last year," said the EIAA.

The fastest growing sites women visit are auction, shopping and banking sites.

The study is based on 7,000 random phone interviews across the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Scandinavia. µ
