OBSERVERS are starting to wonder what is happening to the LG.Philips LCD's eighth-generation plant "P8" plant in South Korea.

Construction of the South Korean plant is on a go slow with only a few maintenance workers at the site.

The South Korean press seems to think construction is going to be finished until 2008, but building work has been suspended for now.

According to the Korea Herald, the P8 was to manufacture the eighth-generation liquid crystal display panels. LG-Phillips changed its mind so that the plant would produce 5.5-generation LCD panels instead.

A spokes LGPhillips said that the P8 plant was not on the verge of closing down, as newspapers have reported.

However the company will be announcing its position on the plant soon, he said. More here. µ
