Nominet

On 2 May 2008 we published an article regarding the Nominet election, which wrongly suggested that not-for-profit UK domain registrar Nominet had improperly sought to influence voting in its board elections by advising its members not to vote for candidates who had offered to return profits accrued by Nominet to its members.

We now accept that these suggestions were incorrect: Nominet is prevented by its constitution from distributing its profits to its members and the election for places on the board of Nominet was carried out properly and according to the appropriate procedures.

We are happy to set the position straight, and wish to apologise to Nominet for the error.
