Common system interface architecture explained

DAVID KANTER, at Real World Technologies, has put together a superb analysis of the implications of CSI - the future Intel interconnect expected in 2008/2009.

CSI has similarities to AMD's Hypertransport and Kanter explains how it works, whether it will outperform AMD's offering, and how Intel can be expected to implement it for desktops, for servers and for notebooks.

Even though the Core 2 Duo has given Intel the ability to bang AMD on the noddle, particularly at the server level, Hypertransport still beats Chipzilla's system architecture in several performance areas.

Intel's hopes its version of CSI will attack AMD where it will hurt. The full report is here. µ
