No launch of low cost Google PC

Consumer Electronics Show 2006 Page couldn't possibly comment

TWO MAJOR rumours concerning Google turned out to be false when Google President Larry Page finally made his CES keynote speech here at CES, Las Vegas.

When asked what had happened to a low cost Google PC with its own new OS, Larry Page simply replied, "Was there supposed to be one?"

The INQ belives that speculators mixed up such a product with Page's own enthusiasm for an MIT project that intends to supply children worldwide with a $100 clockwork laptop PC.

The other rumour which turned out to be false was a co-announcement that the Google Search page would start appearing as the home page on future Motorola smartphones. Perhaps one of the parties decided to pull out of that particular announcement?µ
